Visit the cathedral in Cologne
♦ Discover Cologne Cathedral or "Kölner Dom"
It is naturally the first attraction to visit when arriving in town.
It is huge! You really feel very small at his approach. The visit is free, so you can wander under its sumptuous vaults.
Without reservation you can climb the steps of one of the two towers where you can enjoy a unique panorama of the city of Cologne.
You can also visit the roofs with a guide, via the two cathedral towers. Not recommended in winter unless you are very resistant to cold!
Tip: Remember to book your guided tour well in advance ...
Chocolate Museum in Cologne
♦ Visit to the Chocolate Museum
For food lovers and others ... This 3-storey museum is worth a visit.
You will discover during your visit the history of the cocoa bean or how to make chocolate from a bean, but also the manufacturing processes and the old and modern machines ...
I hear you …
You legitimately wonder: can we taste? Yes of course !
You will have the right to savor a few chocolate samples throughout your journey…
We do not forget that it is a LINDT Museum, so you will see on the 3rd floor the space devoted to chocolate brands and pubs (old and new) around chocolate….
Good to know: In this museum you will see a huge fountain of melted chocolate, you can even dip a few wafers in it! .. Chocolate buffs can also leave with bags full of chocolate!
For digestion, you can always go for a walk along the Kranhaüser which are three crane-shaped monuments which overlook the Rhine. It’s a modern, designer neighborhood, but it’s not bad for toasting a few calories and fighting liver attacks! Hihihi 🙂
♦ Take a tour of the breweries!
What, what, what? You never thought of going to Germany without stopping at a traditional brewery! Unhappy !!
You will see, the Germans drink their beer in the street at any time, especially on weekends, let yourself be tempted too…
You should at least taste the local beer Kölsch once.
The most famous breweries:
Früh Brewery
To know: Put your beer coaster on the glass if you don't want to be refilled without having asked! Small flat: They do not take the CB, provide cash friends!
Gaffel Brewery
Good to know: Don't expect fine gastronomy, you won't find anything like this in German breweries, but the beer is good and the atmosphere is there, it's already a very good point!;)
